Australia Entry Requirements for Indian Travellers

Travel with the passport linked to your visa, keep your grant notice accessible and read the entry dates, stay period and conditions. Most arriving passengers complete an Incoming Passenger Card; a digital declaration is available only on the routes currently supported by Australian Border Force. Follow the instructions for your flight. An ETA is a visa category, not a general arrival declaration.
Check the visa and passport together
Your Australian visa is electronically linked to the passport used in the application. Carry a current valid passport and follow Home Affairs instructions if it has been renewed. Keep any earlier passport linked to the visa available where instructed. Check the travel-document requirements of transit countries and your airline as well.
Read entry dates and stay conditions
The last date for entry and the permitted period of stay answer different questions. A multiple-entry visa does not allow you to remain indefinitely. Read the actual grant notice and use Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO) where appropriate to check conditions.
Complete the applicable passenger declaration
Most travellers complete an Incoming Passenger Card. Australian Border Force also operates digital declaration arrangements for specified eligible routes. Check the current ABF instructions for your own flight instead of assuming there is one mandatory online form for every arrival.
Declare goods truthfully
Australia has strict biosecurity and customs controls. Read the declaration questions carefully and declare food, plant or animal products and other controlled items when required. A visa grant does not exempt your luggage or medicines from inspection.
Keep practical travel records accessible
Have your accommodation address, onward travel plan, host contact if applicable and sufficient access to funds available. Border officers may ask about your visit. Answer consistently with your application and intended activities.
Your preparation checklist
- Read the full grant notice.
- Check the passport linked to the visa.
- Follow your route-specific passenger declaration instructions.
- Review customs and biosecurity rules before packing.
